You've touched on a point I was meant to navigate but it must have gotten lost in my many drafts! Ah, the teenage boy and needles. Doesn't want to look like a wimp yet has valid fears.
I'm 99% sure a painful injection these days boils down to poor preparation ( of the med and the patient) and administration. One of my nursing gf's was just telling me a friend of hers was complaining about a sore arm post vaccination and where she was injected was 3 inches below where she should have received the needle. UGH!
