Yikes, that's all really scary. Certainly sounds like the Fiat had a major issue causing the event.

Ironically, they say that many accidents occur just minutes from ones abode...

I can totally relate to not knowing how to use your cellphone when in distress. On the two occasions I've been in a situation where adrenaline is pumping faster than my brain is, I, too, forgot how to use my phone. Couldn't barely remember my address or phone number let alone what numbers to push for help. It's really freaky but It's what happens when our body goes into a state of shock.

So happy to read there were many kind souls who helped you out, Sherri. Hope you get to the bottom of the reason for the sudden acceleration.
