Yes, that was a dumb idea -as was the 100 followers requirement before becoming eligible for the MPP. That move created the follow-for-follow monster that is still lurking - and irking those who write with a genuine motive and voice.

We should all remember that this is not a popularity contest and that we each bring to the table something unique. I'm proud of my accomplishments here in the 4 years but when I see this behaviour that goes against the grain being endorsed by Medium staff, it sickens and insults me.
