Wow. Heroes and zeroes in this story.

The heroes - the vet, you and your family and of course Bear, and Duke!

The zeroes: Bear's former family for their scumbag behaviour, in particular after Bear got better. Public trolling and shaming a case where they had legally signed their pet away and purposely forgetting a few scraps of important info is the lowest of low.

I fear more people will abandon pets because of the 'unforseen' cost. They needed them to provide security during the pandemic, but cast them aside like toys when the going gets tough.

The one reason why I have never had a dog is the expense. If you're not willing to care for them in sickness and in health, you shouldn't own a pet.

I hope Bear’s former family never has the privilege of owning a pet ever again.
