When I was married, I had HUGE garden that I tended to - I really miss it in some ways, but not in others. I felt like gardening was all about pulling weeds!

My planters are solid, thankfully, as it is really windy on my balcony. I've never grown herbs in a planter, only annuals. Oh, I did have perrenials but I killed the lot of them! Gorgeous hydrangea standards. I'll blame my kids since they forgot to water them while I was away for 5 weeks and they all dropped dead the next year!
