Shape Up? Shut Up? Or Give Up?
I’m still deciding…
This is my fourth attempt at writing this rant. I’m trying to be diplomatic about what has happened on this platform in the last week, and I’ve gone from ‘WTF’ moments to ‘it was a matter of time.’
To summarize my initial thoughts politely, I was disgusted with how Medium treated its loyal writers and was demanding an explanation and an apology for why my earnings had imploded like the Titan. For six weeks, I felt the love then it was like the Grinch had prematurely surfaced, sharpened his needle and burst mine — and thousands of writers — bubbles.
After reading some other writer's stories on the subject, it seems our beloved platform has been the subject of fraudulent activity. Medium shut down the payment shop lickety-split and left all of us regulars in the dark.
Is it true? I’ve read so many accounts of ‘this is what Medium said’ [with proof] to ‘this is what I heard’, no one knows what is fact or fiction. Until such time Tony Stubblebine makes an official announcement to his gazillion writers — of whom a good chunk are loyal and committed to this platform — we do what we know best.
