I've experienced this many times.

…offering to swap out with my colleague who was visibly more and more frustrated by caring for Mrs B, I was surprised to find that I didn’t find her difficult at all. My preconceptions melted away as I talked to her.

I've experienced this many times. A patient would be labelled as difficult or 'a princess' in report and yet I never had any issues with them.
