I’ve Been Summoned to Court
I wish I hadn’t been a model citizen
Picture me arriving home from work, pent up after a great work meeting at the end of the day and discovering a brown envelope waiting on the dining room table from the Montréal Court House.
Huh?
I ripped into it, wondering what on earth I had done. After reading the enclosed 4x8 piece of paper, I was even more perplexed.
Googling the courthouse where I was summoned to appear indicated it dealt with traffic violations. The last parking ticket I got was in August of this year. I wrote a letter complaining about the marked lack of pay stations at the park where the infringement occurred, but I caved and paid the $80 ticket anyway. Fighting it in court was not worth my time or effort.
I haven’t had any other offences. No speeding tickets; definitely no DIC.
The file number nor the defendant's name didn’t ring any bells. Aside from being proactive and googling the courthouse, the nature of the infraction indicated — CSR — meant nothing. The date of the offence was even more troubling.
