I've always been of the belief that parenting is one of the most crucial roles we play in society and yet we get chucked in the deep end, often solely relying on what we have experienced from the hand of our own upbringing. Of course, there are some people that declare they'll never parent the way they were and some win that battle. Others don't, falling into the same cycle of behaviour.
