In reality, it's often the nurses telling the young doctors what to do. I overheard a conversation between two one day and one was telling the other to listen to the nurses as they know what they're doing. It's very true, especially when they rotate around different units they're a bit green at first! As for the pay, that will never happen unfortunately. :(
