I haven't read other people's comments, but when I first read this, I instantly thought about how parents micro-manage their kids these days. They have to be entertained after school, whether it be soccer, ballet or having a play-date.

My kids are beyond this ( my baby 21) but it became an issue years ago for me with other parents. My kids were more than happy to make their own entertainment, but a lot of their friends always needed companionship. My kids were the pacifiers for the parents inability, or need, to always have something exciting for their kids to engage in.

Thankfully, my kids - as adults - are able to enjoy their own company. I fear the other ones are always searching for someone or something to occupy them - thanks to adulting.
