I had that same idealistic view of the States growing up. Couldn't wait to visit LA. I didn't like what I saw when I got there - and now, I have zero interest in visiting. Their gun laws and violence terrify me; their healthcare system is wrong. Americans work hard and get pathetic vacation time and a mere six weeks of maternity leave. We are very lucky to live in Canada.
