I do totally agree with you on this. Children learn from what they see and hear.

Don't know if it was luck or good parenting that all my 3 turned out to be kind, respectful and law-abiding citizens, but I didn't put up with shit, they knew their boundaries and consequences if they stepped out of them and I was there for them 100%.

I know it's not always possible when both parents have to work. If anything, Americans need to realise you have a really shite deal with maternity/paternity leave compared to many other countries and your vacation time sucks too. Kids need parents. And parents need to work to support their kids. Supporting parents = supporting kids.
