Excellent article, however I'm on the fence about the 'don't judge a book by it's cover' however. Yes, it is human nature to formulate an opinion on a person within seconds of crossing them. What irks me is making a judgement call about how someone looks or what they are wearing, especially when it isn't how you would dress. I learned this lesson from my daughter and what her and her partner go through on a daily basis because they choose to be bald and wear alternative clothing and makeup. Yet, if you bothered to get to know them, they are the nicest people.
In the same vein, a person struggling with mental health, or personal issues may not have the strength - or ability - to take care of themselves. We have NO IDEA what inner struggles people are facing - whether they are pristinely dressed or look like they need a good scrub down.
As for your other points, I hate how schools these days dish out medals to all the kids in competetions such as track and field so that no one feels left out. Certainly doesn't inspire any of them to work harder or practice a skill to improve.
I was also expecting you to mention Santa Claus and the tooth fairy too...!!
