Don't agree.

Anything can be said in less. It's an art to be able to do so.

Adverts use this technique all the time; cut the crap - straight to the facts. Saves the good ol' $$

What's wrong with a tweet, tip or random thought? It can be the beginnings of bigger and better things.

Why do writers need to spell out the meaning of movies or thoughts? Throw them to the bears to figure out!

Writing doesn't always need a point, an answer or even a message. It should invoke thought, discussion.

As for your statement bastardizing short-form, all I can say is wake up and smell the coffee.
