Buyer Beware on Amazon
If you’re purchasing from third-party sellers on this profitable online platform, you must do these three things.
In October last year, my 22-year-old son, Tom, bought a two-tiered desk with a retractable keyboard shelf from Amazon. He’s studying media production at the Toronto Metropolitan University and spends much time on his laptop, synthesizer and keyboard.
Tom is sharing an apartment with two other guys and opted for the smaller, cheaper room, although in Toronto’s rental market, we’re paying for a figurative arm and a leg. With little space for extras, he was thrilled when he spied this desk for sale; his equipment would conveniently sit stacked in one place and give him more elbow room.
He was excited to be splashing out and making his first-ever big purchase with his hard-earned cash.
When the desk arrived a couple of weeks later, there were no screws in the box to assemble it. Someone was sleeping on the production line! He messaged Amazon, thinking this was an easy fix: the company would open another box or have a spare set to send.
