Are You Bogged Down By Cluttered Inboxes and Homescreens?
It’s time to flush the emails and do some laptop laundry
Does your computer home screen look like mine? Are you guilty of having hundreds of emails sitting in your inbox? A string of bold, unread ones waiting for your attention, and an abundance of read ones waiting patiently to be addressed? Scrolls of messages that are sedentary, glaring and lingering like a bad smell?
Our technical devices have become part of our everyday lives, whether for work or personal use. They’ve morphed into a placenta, providing essential sustenance for survival. Whether browsing, watching, working or communicating, we have a perpetual need to be connected to the outside world.
As technology evolves, we have unwittingly become hardware hoarders and computer clutterers. Unlike a placenta which is fundamental to the development of life and is expelled once the baby is born, emails — whether read or not — occupy space, cluttering any connected electronic device and the cloud.
Not only are our inboxes impregnated with copious messages, but they’re also in disarray. Home screens manifest more like a periodic table; our photo libraries are a JPEG junkyard, and our uncurated downloads are dripping into voluminous eternity.
