DRAMA FROM DOWN UNDER

A Kid is the Star in This Must-See, Heart-Wrenching Netflix Drama

And the scenery and soundtrack of ‘Boy Swallows Universe’ is damn fine too!

It’s Margaret Lyon’s fault. She’s a reporter from the New York Times, and each week, she suggests a must-see show.

My ears always perk up when it’s something from ‘down under’. Australia and New Zealand may be at the arse-end of the world, but we’ve proven ourselves to be a reputable force when it comes to television productions and movies.

From acting and directing accolades to best picture and costumes, we’ve been nominated and graced the Oscar and Emmy carpets with the likes of The Lord of the Rings, Gladiator, Power of the Dog, The Piano, and Jojo Rabbit.

The title of this drama would not have caught my attention if it wasn’t for her review. Boy Swallows Universe. It sounds sci-fi-y, which I’m not remotely interested in.

Our TV critic recommends a dreamy, violent Netflix drama from Australia, based on a book by Trent Dalton

Violent and dreamy in the same sentence? And, the author of the book the series is based on has my surname? Tell me more.
